  • Angelica Ortiz

    Mission Strategist

Angelica has been part of OBCC family since December 2015. She came here with her family from Venezuela after God miraculously opened doors for them. Since a little child, she was driven to "make the world a fairer place for everyone". She came to Christ in 2007 and that radically changed her perspective about life, people and societal transformation through the power of the gospel.

She graduated top of her class in the Central University of Venezuela with a BA in International Relations and has an Associate Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies from the International School of Ministry. Having worked for more than two years as Project Manager in distinguished Venezuelan non-profit organizations like, "Somos Posible" and "Venezuela Sin Limites," she developed her own social venture at the age of 18. Angelica is convinced that only the power of the gospel can truly transform our society and generate development, because "there is a need for a new heart in every person, before attempting to build a new, fairer society". Also she had been a volunteer in her local church in Venezuela for more than 8 years. Before coming to Chicago, she was leading the communications team and the college group, and has experience serving in street evangelism, community outreaches and a new believers follow-up.

Currently, she is pursuing a double MA in Intercultural Studies and International Leadership at Trinity International University. Her heart is in community outreach, global missions, and social development. She enjoys outdoors activities, following trends in Social Media, learning through MOOCs, engaging in conversation about her home country, and sharing coffee with people from different cultures.

  • Nick gellis

Church Intern & Missionary in training

Nick has been attending OBCC since the summer of 2016. Since the first day he was here he knew this was where God wanted him. After a radical encounter with Jesus the year prior, Nick has traveled to various countries and cities in America serving and sharing the love of Christ. Working with a missions organization, Cities for Christ, he has a longing to see entire cities and regions transformed with the power of the gospel. He has also attended Reinhard Bonnke’s school of evangelism. He has a heart for evangelism wherever he goes and wants to teach and activate the church into understanding that everyone is a missionary.

Whether it’s work, school, or the local grocery store, there is a dying lost world out there that need an encounter with God. His method of telling people about Himself is people and we carry His Presence everywhere we go. He has a burden to see people walking this out.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
